Three face to face events were organised with Roma Families in three localities in three counties of Romania: two rural localities (Polovragi and Cerat) and one urban locality (Caracal).
The main objective of the meetings were to inform Roma parents on the ways in which the project can support them in ensuring the education of children in the process of migration, on the rights of children to compulsory education, but also to access their rights and entitlements (child benefits, registration of children in schools / kindergartens, free school meals etc, according to national legislation).
Target group: 31 members of Roma families:
- on 14th of September at Polovragi, Gorj County with 11 participants;
- on 23rd of September at Caracal, Olt county with 9 participants;
- on 24th of September at Cerat, Dolj County with 11 participants.
During each event, participants were introduced to the project and materials were distributed: launching brochure and folders printed during the project. They were informed about the school’s involvement in the Transnational Cooperation Mechanism supporting families and pupils in temporary migration. Discussions were moderated around the importance of institutional support for the migrating Roma families and children in schools of destination and in schools of return.
